She was born in Patrick County on February 19, 1921 to the late James Jackson (Jim) and Jenny Willard Inman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Hassell Collins; a grandson, Jimmy Collins; two brothers, Curtis and Ernest Inman; one sister, Lois Floyd; and a son-in-law, Esley Coleman.
She was a member of Full Gospel Baptist Church. She had worked at Blue Ridge Nursing Center for several years and worked at R.J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital from 1965 to 1986.
Surviving are three daughters, Lena C. Coleman of Patrick Springs, Alice C. Cobbler and husband Joe of Stuart and Betty C. Smith and husband LaRay of Stuart; two sons, William L. Collins of Patrick Springs and Hassell Odell Collins and wife Vickie of Stuart; a special daughter-in-law, Gladys Collins of Patrick Springs; one brother, James Inman of Martinsville; four sisters, Ruth Pack of Ararat, Mary Lou Robertson of Stuart, and Annie Goode and Sallie Rorrer, both of Woolwine; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Thomas Rutherford officiating. Burial will be in Creasey's Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight (Wednesday) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
