Irma E. Harrell FLORENCE - Irma Elizabeth Harrell, 96, died Sunday, February 14, 2010, at the Methodist Manor after an illness. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2010, in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Miss Harrell was born in Florence County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Sebery Thomas and Sara Richardson Harrell. She was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in the District of Columbia during World War II. She achieved the rank of Sergeant during her time of service. She was retired from Guaranty Bank in Florence after many years as head bookkeeper. Miss Harrell was a member of Parkwood Presbyterian Church. She was also a volunteer at McLeod Regional Medical Center. She was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia H. DeCius and Sara Jean Harrell; and a brother, Palmer R. "Pete" Harrell. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Laura Harrell of Florence; a nephew, John S. (Beverly) Harrell of Florence; great-nieces and -nephews, David (Carolyn) Harrell of Atlanta, GA, Paige H. (Bryan) Carroll of Charlotte, NC, Joanna H. (Vernon) Powers, Joe (Sharon) Kirby, and Sara Kirby, all of Florence; and ten great-great-nieces and -nephews. Memorials may be made to Parkwood Presbyterian Church, 2307 S. Cascade Ave., Florence, SC 29505.
