Ora Alcidine Thompson ( December 2, 1909 )
Ora Alcidine Thompson was born on December 2, 1909 in Leslie, Arkansas to her parents Robert Buckner Kimbrell and Nevada Victoria Terry Kimbrell. She came from a loving family where she had 3 sisters; Ethel, Okla, Drucilla and 2 brothers; Roy and Troy.

Ora attended school in Arkansas and worked on her parent's farm. She met Henry Owen Thompson and they were married on October 15, 1932 in Hector, Pope, Arkansas ( Book "R" Page 50 by J. L. Ross, Justice of the Peace ). Sons James and John were born in Arkansas. The family moved to California around 1938 and lived on a ranch southwest of Poplar where Henry was employed. After a move to Poplar where Henry was then employed at Tobias Grocery, son Jerry Thompson was born. Ora worked on Merzoian Brothers Ranch doing seasonal farm work for many years. Henry and Ora were business owners/operators of various Poplar establishments over the years. After the death of Henry in 1964, Ora moved to Porterville, CA and operated a Day Care business there for many years.

Ora passed away on May 30 2010 peacefully in her sleep.

Ora was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Henry Thompson who died on January 29, 1964. She was also preceded in death by her sisters; Okla Goates, Ethel Johnson, Drucilla Riley and brother Roy Kimbrell and grandson David Thompson.

She is survived by brother Troy Kimbrell of Arkansas and sons; James W. Thompson and wife Earline of Newman, CA, John Thompson and wife Carole and Jerry Thompson and wife Patricia of Porterville, CA, 9 grandchildren; Jean-Marie Bonnar and husband David of Fresno, CA, Nanette Schmitz and husband Richard of Clovis, CA, James M. Thompson and wife Kari of Newman, CA, John Thompson Jr. and wife Debra of Valley Center, CA, Mark Thompson and wife Karen of Fresno, CA, Matthew Thompson and wife Deborah of Winchester, CA, Jeff Thompson and wife Chi Leng of San Jose, CA, Jason Thompson and Andrew Thompson and wife Sabrina of Fresno, CA, 14 great grandchildren; John (Bo) Thompson III of Kansas, Chelsea Thompson of Porterville, CA, Kylee Thompson of Valley Center, CA, Christopher and Michael Thompson of Fresno, CA, Jennifer and Ryan Thompson of Winchester, CA, Melissa Thompson of Medford, OR, Carleigh Thompson of Newman, CA, Elizabeth and Ethan Thompson of Fresno, CA, David, Mark and Sarah Bonnar of Fresno, CA.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lindsay Gardens Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing facility for their excellent care and compassion provided to Ora during her stay.

A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM.
