Carlton Harris Wood, 82, of Ridgely, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was a retired general foreman for General Motors Hydramatic Plant in Ypsilanti, MI., member and Deacon of Ridgely First Baptist Church, an avid fisherman, gardener, hunter and wood worker.

Services will be at 12 noon Saturday at First Baptist Church in Ridgely with Bro. John Coleman and Bro. Tom Pirtle officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Osborne Wood of Ridgely; three daughters, Donna Peper and husband, Steve, of Garden City, MI., Ann Beatty and husband, Ken, of Newport News, VA. and Laurie Reaves and husband, Steve, of Dyersburg; a sister, Frances Beal of San Mateo, CA.; and a grandson, Stephen Jacob Reaves of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Edith Wilcox Wood; and four brothers, Nolan Wood, Aubrey Wood, Coleman Wood and Thomas Wood.

Pallbearers will be Wilkes Moore, Kent Patterson, Landon Paschall, Tony Leake, Mack Forrester, Billy Marvin, Charles Dill and Brian Funderburk. Honorary pallbearers will be Enloe Stover, Jr., Ben Abbott, Herbert Leake and J.D. Mitchell.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Ridgely First Baptist Church.
