Gene was the husband of Kathryn* (Katie) nee Scanlon and the father of Joan (Thomas) Sweeny and Eugene John (Fran) Brennan. He was grandfather of four. He was born in the coal mining region of Northeastern Pennsylviana near Scranton. Worked for many years at several New York City newspapers. After marrying Katie, in the later 1920's, they lived in Brooklyn NY, then Elizabeth NJ, then back to Brooklyn, and after retiring in the Germantown section of Philadelphia PA. After Katie's death in 1965 he spent his final year with his daughter Joan and her husband Tom at their home in Wayland Massachusetts.
