Ruth passed on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, in a local hospital from heart failure. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church in San Angelo. Burial will follow in Mullins Cemetery. Ruth was born on Sept. 11, 1929, to Clarence and Millie Schoenfield in Rowena, Texas.

She attended high school in Miles and Austin and after graduating studied music at the Cincinnati Conservatory. She then earned a music degree at North Texas University. As an accomplished singer and piano player, she once performed for the Houston Symphony after winning a statewide competition. Education and music were a very important part of her life.

After college she married B.R. Weatherford in 1950, and her priorities changed top becoming a wife and raising a family of which she was very proud. While always a partner with B.R. in the farming operation, she also taught music to supplement income during the drought years of the 1950's. B.R. and Ruth lived and worked at Veribest until the early 1980's when they moved to San Angelo and lived the city life until his death in 1986. Ruth served on the board of Citizens State Bank for many years following in the footsteps of her father, Clarence Schoenfield, a founding director. She continued to enjoy life which included obtaining her Life Masters while playing bridge, quilting and playing the piano for all her friends at Royal Estates. She was a very upbeat and positive person who never complained about a thing. Her motto in life was "everything is wonderful and my life is great".

She survived by three children and their spouses, Russ and Deborah Jenkins Weatherford of Veribest, Ted and Debbie Linthicum Weatherford of San Angelo and Cindy and Chris Adkins of Argyle; five grandchildren, William Russell Weatherford and wife Roxanne of Miles, Austin Blake Weatherford of Washington, D.C., Whitney Denise Weatherford of Lubbock, Addison and Trevor Adkins of Argyle; and a great-grandchild, Kenedy Weatherford of Miles. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Charles Nau of Batavia, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Karl Schoenfield. Pallbearers will be William Russell Weatherford, Austin Blake Weatherford, Trevor Adkins, Mauriecieo Martinez, Cruz Chavez Jr. and Gary Parmer.
