Leona Irene Rogers, age 96, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away Sunday morning, September 17, 2006 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Leona was born January 24, 1910 in Austin, KY, the daughter of Doktor Satterfield and Ida Dell (Wheeler) Stone. Leona was united in marriage to John H. Rogers in Murphysboro, IL on March 7, 1926 and he preceded her in death on October 25, 1984. Leona worked as an LPN at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital for over 19 years and was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Pinckneyville, IL.

Leona is survived by two sons, John Edwards Rogers of Carterville, IL and Stanley Thane Rogers of Lake City, FL, five daughters, Margaret Catherine Sawyer of Nashville, IL, Mary Ida Martinez of Saipan, Roberta Ruth Rogers of Pinckneyville, IL, Vanita Jane Faulkner of Mesquite, TX, and Edith Jewel Wilson of Wahpeton, ND, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, and a special friend, Barbara Loucks of Pinckneyville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children, John W. and in infancy, Elizabeth Irene, four brothers, Charles Carver, Bob, Paul, and Edward Stone, two sisters, Nettie and Verna, and one granddaughter, Marilyn Dunaway.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Church in Pinckneyville, IL with Reverend David Walters officiating. Interment will be in the Walker Hill Cemetery, Grand Tower, IL.

Friends may call at the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. till Services.

Memorials may be made to the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
