Gaylen Jerome Hennix was the first born of Harry Laury Hennix and Garda Marie Myren.
On June 12, 1948 Gaylen married Dorothy Mildred Christianson (November 24, 1929-) the daughter of Edward H. and Geneva Miller Christianson of rural Kenmare, North Dakota. Gaylen and Dorothy lived and farmed near Bowbells, North Dakota for several years and Gaylen also worked for the Burke County Highway Department. Later they moved to Minot where he worked for the Ward County Highway Department. Gaylen died in Minot and is buried in the Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot, North Dakota. They had four children:
1. Donna Marie Hennix (August 8, 1948-December 23, 1969) Killed in train-car accident
2, Gregory Hennix 1951-2005
3. Jerome Hennix
4. DeMaris Hennix
