Troy married Mary Madge Monroe in 1929. They had two children, Phyllis and Philip. Mary died in 1934. Troy then married Eunice Gass in 1939. Troy and Eunice had two sons, Robert and Jeffery.
Troy left his native Southern Illinois for Detroit, Michigan in the 1920s and lived in Michigan the remainder of his life with many trips to visit his family in Southern Illinois over the course of his life. Troy loved the outdoors and nature. He particularly loved spending time at his cottage that he built in 1941, on Sweeze Lake in Michigan's Irish Hills.
Troy was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. All who knew him would say he was a true gentleman in every sense of the word.
