W. R. Guthrie Sr. Rites Saturday

Services for Walter Ray Guthrie, Sr., 53, Tyler, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater Hopewell Baptist with the Rev. James Price and Rev. Charlie Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Winona, under direction of Brooks-Sterling Mortuary.

Mr. Guthrie died Sunday at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Lindale. He attended Winona Public Schools. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Winona. He was owner-operator of Tyler Building and Supply Co. He was a Mason and member of National Home Builders Association, a century member of YMCA, Boy Scouts of America and Fedders Foreign Country Association.

Survivors include sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alfred Guthrie Jr., James Earl Guthrie, Anderson Earl Guthrie, Ray Guthrie, Rogers Ray Guthrie, Rogers Kelly, Herndon Johnson and John Stevenson.

Family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
