DE SOTO -- Bertie L. Bullar, 89, passed away at 4:58 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, in Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with Brother Josh Wehrmeier officiating. Entombment will be in De Soto Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Bertie was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Vergennes to Rollie C. and Sylvia C. (Crain) Holt.
She was a retired press operator for 20 years with the former Allen Industries in Herrin.
Bertie married Andrew Bullar on July 25, 1942, in Charleston, Ark., and he preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1996.
She is survived by two sons, Phil A. Bullar and Drew Bullar, both of De Soto; four grandchildren, Phil Bullar II and his wife, Donnielle Bullar of Du Quoin, Sandi Bullar of Nashville, Tenn., Celeste Bullar of De Soto and Tawmi Conley of Du Quoin; five great-grandchildren, Brock Austin Bullar, Jordyn Shae Bullar, Morgan Alexis Bullar, Haeden Sweetin and Lawson Ridgeway; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Deloris Holt of Chino, Calif.; and two sisters-in-law, Ruby Nausley and Jennie Bullar, both of De Soto.
She was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Pam Bullar; three sisters, Lou Vena Holt, Inez Willmore and Leona Boin; and six brothers, Leroy, Donnie, Ardell, Peck, Elmer and Orpha Holt.
Bertie loved her family and friends, and she loved life so much that she danced her way through it!
