Avis "June" New, 75, of 705 Lafayette Ave., Oolitic, died at 1:08 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011 at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.

Born July 24, 1935, in Oolitic, she was the daughter of Carl and Ann May (Webb) Fowler. She married Donald K. New on June 26, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2010.

She retired from NWSC Crane and was a member of the Oolitic Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Tim New and wife Patty of Oolitic; a daughter, Lisa Sanders and husband Jerry of Martinsville; a daughter-in-law, Lisa New of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachary, Brady and Rose New, Caleb, Riley and Seth New, and Joel, Jared and Hannah Sanders; two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Zane New.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son, Jim New.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the mortuary.
