Wilma was a 1934 graduate of Weir High School in Weir, KS. She attended Business school in Kansas City, MO. She married Horace Wise on June 2, 1939. The couple resided in Kansas City, MO where Wilma raised her family.
Wilma moved to Washburn in 2008. She enjoyed living at Northern Lights Health Care Center where she realized her talents as a pastel artist. She was very happy showing her art work locally and selling calendars of bird portraits at Northern Lights Health Care.
She is survived by three daughters, Jan Wise of Washburn, Marsha (Wally) Scott of Prairie Village, KS and Karen (Robert) Jones of Roeland Park, KS; a son, John (Joan) Wise of Archie, MO; three grandsons, Brett (Catherine) Stinson, Jason Jones and Robert Wise; four granddaughters, Mindy (Ty) Ritter, Lorrie (Aaron) Barnes, Emily (Michael) Lombardi and Angela Wise; thirteen great-grandchildren and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Horace in 2007; a sister, Thelma; and two brothers, George and John.
A memorial gathering will take place at the Washburn Cultural Center, 1 E. Bayfield Street on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Wilma's art work from the past two years will be on exhibit.
