James Barker was fatally wounded by an unknown assailant in Glenrock, Wyoming. He was standing in the rear room of the post office when a shot was fired through a window and he fell to the floor mortally wounded. The ball passed through his arm, one lung, grazed the backbone and lodged against a rib. The wounded man lived until the next morning.
The remains were interred at Glenrock; the funeral being delayed to await the arrival of the parents of the dead man, from the east.
He leaves a wife and a large family of children.
