Bath, N.Y. — Elisabeth G. "Betty" Schoeffler, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior, who she put her trust in through her faith, on Thursday morning (Sept. 30, 2010) at the Taylor Health Center in Bath.
Born in Pulteney on Nov. 26, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Coryell) Greene. She was married to Malburn Schoeffler, who predeceased her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Rev. Gordon Schoeffler.
Betty resided in her own home for 62 years, until she reached the age of 95. For 17 years she spent the summer months at her cottage on Keuka Lake. In 1952 she left the workforce to become a homemaker. She was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church for over 35 years where she was involved in various ladies ministries and was a member of the choir. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling on senior citizen trips with her husband. She will be remembered for dearly loving her sons and grandsons. Her family includes her son, Rev. Bryan Schoeffler of Bath; her daughter-in-law, Susan Schoeffler of Elmira; her three grandsons, Steven (Meredith) Schoeffler of Boston, Paul (Melanie) Schoeffler and David Schoeffler all of Elmira; her great-granddaughter, Ava Schoeffler; her sisters-in-law, Virginia Sprague and Helen Schoeffler both of Bath; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 1-3 p.m. Monday at the Avoca Baptist Church, 1 Church St., where a funeral and committal service will take place following calling hours at 3 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in the Glenview Cemetery, Pulteney.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Christian Camping Services of the Alfred-Almond Bible Church, PO Box 186, Almond NY 14804.
