LOYD DWANE SMITH Born September 22, 1931 in Ellinwood, KS and moved to California in 1934 where he later met, fell in love with and married Hazel Jeanette Smith. Hazel and Loyd were married for 48 years. Their marriage was solemnized in the LDS Los Angeles temple for all eternity. Loyd served in the Navy for 4 years where he became interested in electrical engineering. He graduated from Berkley with his BS and received his Masters from USC. He used his degree in designing technology for the US Defense Department during his 30-year-career at Hughes Aircraft. Loyd is survived by his loving wife Hazel, his 2 daughters, son-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. Loyd served faithfully in the LDS church for 50 years. His interests included; Sees Candy, McDonalds, reruns of Perry Mason, keeping his mind sharp with games of solitaire and checkbook balancing, and most importantly, genealogy and spending as much time as he could with family and friends. Loyd passed away peacefully in Riverside, CA on July 24, 2011 due to complications from a stroke. He will be buried on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Riverside National Cemetery. He is already greatly missed.
