Mrs. Sarah F. Piner, pioneer Lake county resident and mother of Mrs. Susie Price of Santa Rosa, died late Wednesday night at Kelseyville, Lake county. Mrs. Piner, who was widely known as Grandma" Piner to Lake residents, was 76 years old and had resided near Kelseyville for 60 years. Mrs. Piner was born in Placerville in 1853, when that town was widely known as "Hang Town" and was the center of the Sierra Nevada mining operations. She was married to George W. Piner, early Lake county settler and rancher, in 1870, and had lived on the Piner land grant ever since. Those surviving in addition to the Santa Rosa woman, include a daughter, Mrs. W. H. Adams of Lakeport, and two sons, William A. Piner of Kelseyville, and George W. Piner, well known San Francisco vocalist.
