Wilburn "Corky" J. Heins, 78, of 1146 W. Gorham Road died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, in the Veterans Care Center in Anna. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Christ Lutheran Church, with Pastor Thomas Fast officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, with military graveside services by American Legion Poast 127 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7190, both of Murphysboro, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69 of Jackson County. Visitation was held in Crawshaw Funeral Home, Murphysboro. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
Mr. Heins was a pipefitter and farmer. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1790, American Legion Post 127, Christ Lutheran Church, Laborers Union and Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Gorham to Arthur and Mary (Schaumber) Heins. He married Erna C. Eckert on Feb. 5, 1957. She died May 23, 1989.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Janice Hollman of Gorham; two stepsons, Gary Hollman of Jacob and Ty Hollman of Rockwood; three sisters, Dorothy Rohlfing of Gorham, Margaret Heins of St. Louis and Alice Ahner of Eldora Hills, Calif.; two brothers, Harry Heins of Rockwood and Robert Heins of Murphysboro;
a stepgrandson , two step granddaughters, two step great-grandsons, two step great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. One sister preceded him in death.
