From the Southern Illinoisan (Carbondale), Monday, Sept. 12, 1966, p. 18:
Lloyd B. Nance, 59, of 1013 N. Bridge St., Carbondale, died Sunday in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Murphysboro, after a two-day illness. A disabled World War II veteran, Mr. Nance was born in Pomona Township March 6, 1907, a son of Alvie and Mary Stearns Nance. He married Hettie Reames Adams in Murphysboro Feb. 18, 1948. Mr. Nance was a member of the Lantana Baptist Church. He leaves his wife and mother, both of Carhondale; stepdaughters, Mrs. Violet Burke of Carbondale; Mrs. Mildred Riley of Ava, Mrs. Juanita Pratt of De Soto; step-sons, Cletis Adams of Carbondale, and J. D. and George Adams, both of Chicago. He also leaves sisters, Mrs. Bertha Crowder, Carbondale; Mrs. Louise Penrod, Murphysboro, Mrs. Etta Baggett, Cobden; Mrs. Alice Presley, Hurst and Mrs. Violet Renner, Carterville; and brothers James Nance of Rockford, Cecil of Makanda, and Moody, Melvin and Ray Nance all of Rock Falls. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Huffman Funeral Home, Carbondale, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Louis Blaise, pastor of the Murdale Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Dutch Ridge Cemetery.
