OBITUARY
Reverend Fridtjof B. Anderson, superintendent of the Homme Children's Home, Wittenberg, Wis., passed away on January 13, 1948, from a heart ailment. The Reverend P.A. Wahl officiated at the funeral at First Lutheran Church on January 17. The Reverend I.M. Gjellstad preached the sermon. The Reverend M.A. Dahlen represented the Board of Charities and the Reverend Oliver Bergeland spoke for the family. Other pastors assisting in the service were: W.W. Sihler, L.M. Stavig, C.M. Granskou, Walter I. Aamoth, I.J. Tanner, and H.M. Mason. Interment was at Mauston, Wis. The Reverend A.M. Rusten officiate there.

F.B. Anderson was born July 10, 1900, at Cottonwood, Minnesota to Mr. and Mrs. Anton E. (Martha Orwoll) Anderson. He attended Cottonwood High School, St. Olaf College from 1918 to 1922 (A.B.), and Luther Theological Seminary from 1922 to 1925 (C.T.).

His pastorates were at Proctor, Minnesota from 1925 to 1929; Larsen, Wisconsin from 1933 to 1938; Madison, S. Dakota from 1938 to 1940. For four years, from 1929 to 1933, he traveled as field secretary for the synodical young people's Luther League--his influence contributing largely to successful Bible camps.

In 1939 Pastor Anderson was seriously ill for a number of weeks with heart trouble. However, he recovered and then accepted the position of superintendent of the Homme Children's Home, where he served from 1940 until his passing. His work there showed that he was unusually well qualified for that type of service in the field of human welfare. God gifted him with sympathy, vision, understanding, and initiative.

On June 21, 1928, Pastor Anderson was married to Lavina Larson at Mauston, Wisconsin. She survived him along with three sons: Orwoll, Joel, and Mark; one daughter, Kristi Downing; his parents, five brothers, and one sister.
