Peoria Jurnal Star, Peoria, Illinois, Monday May 5, 2003 EAST PEORIA - Claude R. Henderliter, 91, of 118 Hilltop Court died at 8:27 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born Nov. 20, 1911, in Smithfield to George W. and Anna Howarter Henderliter, he married Jennie Bartlett on Aug. 4, 1931, in Hutchinson, Kan. She died July 7, 1986, in East Peoria. He also was preceded in death by one infant daughter, three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, James (and Evelyn) of East Peoria and John of Canton; two daughters, Dorothy (and Jake) Gilmore of Sparland and Julia (and Homer) Smith of Canton; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was a coal miner in Fulton County until the 1950s. He then worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria until retiring in 1977. Cremation has been accorded. There will be no services or visitation. Burial of ashes will be in Cuba Cemetery in Cuba, Ill., at a later date. Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to any charity.
