Mrs. Samuel J. Strait
Mrs. Aretta E. Strait, 84, who resided for the past few years with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Lininger of St. Thomas RD, died Dec. 6, following a lengthy illness.
Born on Feb. 11, 1880 at Harrisonville, she was a daughter of the late Watson Schooley and Margaret Sipes. She was a member of Asbury Methodist church, Harrisonville for the past 70 years.
The widow of Samuel J. Strait, who died on Dec. 7, 1953, she is survived by her daughter and four sons, Jacob W., of Apple Valley, Calif., Norman R., of Baltimore, Md., Harold L., of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and S. Lee of E. Queen St., also 11 grand children and 8 great grand children and 1 great-great grand child.
Funeral service in charge of the Sipes funeral home, Harrisonville were held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 9, at the Asbury Methodist church with Rev. O. A. Lumpkin & Rev. Leonard L. Wright, officiating. Burial was made in the Asbury cemetery.
