THE PARIS NEWS, July 29, 2011, Page 3A. - WACO - Horace Burton Redus Jr., of Waco, lost his courageous battle with lung and brain cancer as he passed peacefully from heart failure Monday, July 25, 2011. At his request there will be no service, with interment at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Horace (Jack) was born in Paris on Dec. 3, 1944, to Horace Burton Redus Sr. and Robbie Jordan Redus. He graduated from Paris High School in 1963 and from Lamar Tech University in 1968. He was a dedicated teacher serving as band director, instructor in strings, choir, various music programs and numerous other subjects in schools including the Boston, Mass., area. After 35 years of teaching he retired from the San Antonio Independent School District. In honor of his sevice to the San Antonio and Northside independent school districts, the Texas Flag will fly over the Alamo on Aug. 6 and be presented to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those treasuring his memory include his sisters, Penny Cooper and husband, Douglas, of New Braunfels and Pamela Redus Rucker, of San Antonio; brother, Richard Redus and wife, Rita, of Paris; aunts, Janelle Jordan Greene, of Paris, and Jo Redus Parham, of Paris; uncle, Jerry Redus and wife, Peggy, of Corpus Christi; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; special friends, Sandra White, of Paris, Gina Stelley, Jolie Woodard, Cara York, Jeanne York and Joel York, all of Waco; and last but not least, his beloved dog, Amber.

The family wishes to extend appreciation for excellent care to Waco Cardiology, Texas Oncology and Presbyterian Gamma Knife Center in Dallas and great appreciation for love, prayers and concern worldwide.
