Bertha S. Bassett, 92, died Oct. 17, in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Bassett was born in Iowa and spent her early years in Blair, Neb., where she married Harry E. Bassett, and they came to Silver City in 1911. She is survived by a daughter, Eileen Farney of Dallas, with whom she has lived since 1955; three grandchildren, Bill Clarkson of Midland, Texas, Camille Noser of Lexington, Ohio, and Jerry Farney of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and 13 grandchildren. Mrs. Bassett was preceded in death by her husband, former owner of the Ford Agency in Silver City, in 1964, and a daughter, Gertrude Clarkson of El Paso, in 1959. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Silver City Woman's Club and the Silver City Music Club. Interment was Oct. 21, in Memory Lane Cemetery following services by the Rev. C.M. Henderson. Pallbearers were Buddy Bassett, Ira John Bassett, Thomas E. Holland, Frank Parrish, Earnest Brown and Sam Stepp.
