Gilgert Morse, 79, of Princeton, died Sunday, Oct.5, 2008, at 9:30 p.m. at his home, following a long illness.
An Army veteran and retired guard from Kentucky State Penitentiary, he was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Caldwell County, a son of the late Floyd and Eva Christine Gibson Morse.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Harper Morse; a brother, J.L. Morse; and a sister, Elizabeth Morse Baker.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dwane and Sharon Morse of Caldwell County; two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Sam Gilkey of Caldwell County and Ginger and Ron Devine of Shelby county; two grandchildren, Charity and husband Christopher Cullen of Princeton and Adrienne Devine; a greatgrandchild, Canaan Cullen; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. the Rev. Rodney Wallace will officiate the service.
Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Caldwell County.
Pallbearers will be Sam Gilkey, Jerry Luton, Clinton Perry, Billy Milam, Tim Cullem and Bennie Conger.
