Anna Pope, 86, Mandan, died Feb. 12, 2007, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Kenneth Phillips as celebrant. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m., followed by a parish vigil. There will be no visitation at the church on Friday.

Anna Bender was born April 22, 1920, at St. Anthony, the daughter of Nicholaus and Catherine (Leingang) Bender. Educated in St. Anthony parochial and rural schools, she married John Ressler on Nov. 5, 1941, in St. Anthony. He died Oct. 10, 1947. On July 6, 1954, Anna was united in marriage to Henry Pope at St. Joseph's Church, Mandan. Henry died July 25, 1992.

A quiet woman, who enjoyed time with the family, she was particularly proud of all her grandchildren's accomplishments. Anna possessed many talents, but especially the ability to create beautiful needlework, often without a pattern. She also had a green thumb and was able to make most any flower, plant or vegetable grow well under her care. She was a devoted member of Christ the King Parish.

Anna will be dearly missed by those who survive her including her daughter and son-in-law, LaVonne and Kenneth Doll, Mandan; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Marilyn Pope, Bismarck; her stepson, Henry D. Pope, Hastings, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Joe Eckroth, Idaho; and her sister-in-law, Frances Bender, Mandan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a daughter, Sandra Ressler Baldwin; three infant children, Donald Ressler and twins, Adam and Eve Ressler; a daughter-in-law, Barbetta Pope; her sister, Mary Emter; two infant sisters, Rose and Clara; and five brothers, Jack, Adam, Nick, Alex and John.
