He enlisted May 11, 1916 at Lethbridge, Alberta in the 211th Overseas Battalion CEF and served with the 8th Canadian Railway Troops in France. He was demobilized April 1, 1919 with the rank of Sapper.

Sapper (Pvt) 258253 Thomas C. Standing
Enlisted with the 211th Battn. (American Legion) Replacement Battn. But served in the Canadian Engneers (RE) During WW1 of 1914-18. He enlisted at Lethbridge Alberta on May 11th 1916 at age 20. He listed his occupation as "Clerk" (See attached enlistment papers" Born in London England in 1895 he immigrated with his family to Canada in 1903 and they settled in the Lethbridge Alberta area.
Some time after his war service he came out west to British Columbia were he settled in the Murrayville/Langley area, were on Sept. 30th 1948 he died of Lung Cancer at age 53 and was buried in the Old Murrayville Cemetery.
