Funeral services for Mattie Jane Burris, 91, of Chickasha, was held Monday in the Sowers Memorial chapel of Sevier's Tuttle funeral home, with Rev Jack York officiating. Mrs Burris was born 9/17/1889 in Mountain Springs, TX, and passed away late Thursday night in Grady Memorial hospital, Chickasha. She and George W. Burris were married 12/12/1909 in Cooke Co., TX, and he preceded her in death 11/28/1953. A daughter, Ruby Boyer, also preceded her in death on 4/27/1914. Mrs Burris worked as a housewife most of her life and was a member of the Baptist church of Tuttle. She is survived by 2 sons, Ernest Burris of Granada Hills, Calif, & Eugene Burris of Bethany, 1 daughter, Ruth Gambill of Chickasha, 1 sister, Jessie Baxter of Stamford, TX, 8 grandchildren, & 13 great grandchildren. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Sevier's Tuttle funeral home.
