Herbert "Gene" Wesner, age 82, of French Lick, passed away on Thursday at Medco Health and Rehabilitation Center in French Lick.

He was born in West Baden Springs, on Jan. 2, 1929, to Elbert Wesner and Leora Beatty Wesner.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Anna Marie Wesner of French Lick; five sons, Ronald (Mary Alice) Wesner of Mitchell, Anthony J. (Gina) Wesner of French Lick, James Wesner of Loogootee, John (Becky) Wesner of Fulda and Richard (Andrea) Wesner of Riesel, Texas; two daughters, Laura (Mike) Reynolds of West Baden Springs and Shirley (Tony) Starks of Evansville; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, five sisters, Goldie, Dessie, Evelyn, Geraldine, and Tootsie Drake; two sons, William and Carl Wesner; one daughter, Carolyn Branham; and one daughter-in-law, Diane.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick. Burial will follow at the Paoli Community Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, and from 9 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
