,,,,,,,,,,,,, Arvin Theodore Massengale Sr., 88, of Harrison, father of Arvin Massengale Jr. of Hartman, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Hillcrest Nursing Home.

A native of Wilkerson, he was a son of the late William Thomas and Nancy Jane "Nanny" (Hoover) Massengale, retired farmer, businessman, minister, owner-operator of M&M Equipment Company, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrison and Gideon International.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella Massengale; one daughter, Charline Kelton; three brothers, Tillford, Sanford, and Arkie Massengale; and three sisters, Delphia Henderson, Dovie Shaddox, and Ava Bailey.

He is survived by three other sons, F. M. Massengale of Green Forest, Carroll Lee Massengale of Cedarville, and Garrie Massengale of Searcy; three daughters, Wanda Cozort of House Springs, Mo., Rita Vaught of Scranton, and Anna Jo Smith of Waldron; two sisters, Sylvia Wilson of Rogers and Anna Mae Crow of Harrison; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at Holt Memorial Chapel in Harrison with Rev. Jerry Scitern and Rev. Mitchell Scitern officiating. Burial will be in Alpena Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
