Died, Christmas Eve
“In the midst of joy we are in sorrow.” While hundreds of people, and especially children, rose early yesterday morning to welcome Christmas and look over the presents of Santa Claus, while their parents looked on in delight, there was one in Lead which knew no such joy as this. Instead of the merry prattle of the child and the laughter of the parents, the little one lay cold in death, surrounded by the tears of the parents, and a gloom cast over the home. Jerry, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Daly, died Christmas eve at 6 o’clock, of inflammation of the bowels, aged one month and two days. The funeral took place at 1 o’clock this afternoon from the home of the parents in South Lead, Rev. Henry A. James officiating.
Black Hills Daily Times newspaper, December 26, 1894 - Jerry, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. John Daly (sic) aged one month and two days, died of pneumonia at 6 p.m. Christmas. The funeral took place from the family residence yesterday afternoon.
The Black Hills Daily Times newspaper of November 24, 1894 reported that a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Daily on "Thursday."
