Michael Dee III was born 14 May 1849 in Queen's Quarry, Nova Scotia, British North America (now Canada) to Irish immigrants Michael Dee Jr. (a fisherman) and Ellen Dee (née Kirby) who had immigrated from near Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland circa 1848 during the Great Hunger, baptized 28 May 1849 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Halifax, Nova Scotia, British North America (now Canada), married Ann Hilchey 22 Nov 1868 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Herring Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada, had 17 children with her, moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada with his family circa 1883, widowered in 1902, died of heart disease 30 May 1915 in Halifax at the age of 66, and buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Halifax. He was a fisherman, stonecutter, and dockworker. Religion: Catholic.
