Sammie (Sam) was born in Webb City, Arkansas to James Monroe and Ruthie Albernathy. He grew up in Van Buren, Arkansas. He married Eliza Johnson and moved to Tulsa Oklahoma. When Eliza passed away he remained in Tulsa until his death. Sammie died in a local Nursing Home in Tulsa on April 17, 1972.
