Lived for a time in DeSoto Parish-Keatchie, Louisiana. He had a large family of children (1) Ruben Vernon (2) Minnie (3) Joseph (4) Daisy (5) Effie (6) Rosie (7) Bessie (8) Alvah. He was married to Martha Ann M. Merrett

He was a member of the Cavalry, Birds Batallion, Co. A.
1st Trans-Mississippi Batallion with the rank of Private. He surrended in 1865 at Shreveport ,La. Later he was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy
