Sarah Taylor Price was born Sarah Jane Forrester, the daughter of John Forrester and Atha McCoy. She was born Jun 17, 1837 in Johnson County, TN, and died Oct 21, 1919 in Hawkins Co., TN.
She was first married to John Richard Taylor (born 1833) of Carter County, TN on Feb. 4, 1853 in Johnson County, TN. In the mid-1850s, they moved along with her husband's brother Sion's family to the Pumpkin Valley of Hawkins County, TN which is near Kyles Ford. John R. Taylor was a farmer and then a Union soldier in the Civil War. He was in the 13th Tennessee Calvary Regiment Volunteers-Company F and died of pneumonia in the military hospital at Nashville on March 15, 1864. He was a corporal who had enlisted 9/21/1863, was mustered in Nov. 8, 1863. He is buried in the Nashville National Cemetery, Section E, Grave# 1429.
