Bob was born July 10, 1931, in Roberts, the son of Orris and Arla Houtzel Allen.
He married Joanne Netherton on Sept. 29, 1951, at the Roberts Methodist Church, Roberts.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Candace (Jim) Kietzman of Loda; a son, Roger (Sue Larson) Allen of Cameron; three grandchildren, Dustin, Brooke and Jordan Kietzman; a sister, Juanita Fritchley of Roberts; a cousin, Allen (Fran) Kief of Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Leonard Stiegman.
Bob graduated from Roberts Township High School in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 in the Strategic Air Command, 306th Air Refueling Squadron at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Fla. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Business, University of Illinois, in 1957.
He was a C.P.A. and worked for several accounting firms, the IRS in Rockford and later owned and operated H & R Block tax offices in Paxton and Gibson City. He and his wife lived in Champaign for 30 years before moving to Bayles Lake in 1991.
Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Paxton, the Masonic Lodge of Gibson City, Bloomington Consistory, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a life member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association. He was an avid golfer and a big Illini fan.
