Gladys Cooper Bageant, 82, of Winchester, Va., died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester.

Born December 15, 1928 in Greensboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Reynolds and Beulah G. Baldwin Cooper.

She was a seamstress. She was a avid reader, flower and art enthusiast.

She is survived by one daughter, Martha B. Windle, Winchester; one brother, Frank Cooper, Caldwell, Ind.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Bageant, Sr. in 1994; two sons, Joseph Lee Bageant, Jr. and Michael Roy Bageant; four sisters, Inez Sykes, Martha Jordan, Dorothy Dellinger and Beulah Mae Hagen and four brothers, John, Garland, Edmund and Calvin O'Dell Cooper.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 20 at Greenwood Grove Cemetery, Berkeley Springs with Rev. James Markle officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Bageant Family, c/o Martha B. Windle, 101 Matthew Court, Winchester, VA 22603.

Arrangements are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs.
