Emily Palina Bates as born in Murray Co., Georgia August 23, 1851. She was united in marriage to Daniel Gilbert Sinclair July 11, 1866. To this union were born 7 girls and 4 boys; 3 girls and 3 boys preceded her in death.
Emily moved with her family to Oklahoma from Denton Co., Texas in 1889. They resided on a claim six miles south of Oklahoma City until 1894 when they moved to a farm 8 miles south of Seiling, OK. In 1902, they established residence in Seiling where she lived until her death in
her home Jan. 3, 1937, when she succumbed to bronchial pneumonia. She was a member of the Baptist Church and was faithful to her belief. Mrs. Sinclair was probably the oldest citizen of Seiling and was familiarly known to the people of the community as "Grandma".
