Jenny was disowned by her family and sent to Texas with her brother Thomas Jefferson "Buck" Click.
She had an out of wedlock child with her sister Lizzy's husband, Joel Brooks. That son's name was Raymond John Click born 8 Dec 1894 who later took the surname of Coffey. She would go to stay with families as a young lass to help with the care of children and it was on one of her stays she had an affair with Lizzy's husband, Joel. Of course this caused a big uproar in the family and problems in their marriage.
She later contacted her family to see if she could come home to visit and they told her not to come. Lizzy and Joel patched things up and remained married.
The family barely mentioned her in their history and what had happened to her. Her Aunt Bernice made mention of her in her memoirs that she was "Mrs Coffey" who lived in Texas. It took me several years to finally track her down. I had looked all over Texas for her to no avail until I finally found one of her daughters living in El Paso, Texas and seen she was born in New Mexico. I finally found her and she died at about age 44 in Silver City, New Mexico, most likely of a broken heart that she could never see her family again.
This is one of the saddest stories in a young girls life.
