Funeral rites for Joseph E. Cowden, 70, of 1134 Northwest 1, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Perrine Funeral Home with Reverend H. H. Palmer, pastor of the Southwest Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Cowden died Friday night in Mercy Hospital after a two months illness. A native of Buffalo, Missouri, he came to Oklahoma when 12 years old and settled with his parents near Shawnee. He had lived in Oklahoma City since 1916. He formerly was a used car dealer here until his retirement about 10 years ago. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, the Knights of Phythias, and the Eagles. He also was a member of the Southwest Assembly of God church.
Survivors are a son, Howard, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a brother, Thomas E. Cowden, Shawnee; a granddaughter, Mrs. Vivian Fugate, Hot Springs, Arkansas; and one great-granddaughter.
