Donnie was the first girl born alive to Rayford and Minerva since 1890 with 10 boys in between.She was a real joy to her mother and brothers and older sisters.After she and Sam married sometime between 1930 and 1935 they made a home for Minerva after Rayford died in 1937.Donnie only went through her second year in high school but went to cosmetology school after 1940.She worked as a beautician and opened her own shop in Snyder,Donnie's Beauty Shop. She and Sam built a small house behind theirs for Minerva and kept her comfortable and well cared for all the rest of her life.She and Sam never had children.written by her neice Johanna Dever Epperson
