Chambers W (should be U) Sweigart died at the home of his son-in-law, Lemon Gockley, near Ephrata, Friday, at nine o’clock from infirmities due to his advanced age. He was in his 82nd year and resided with his son since February. He formerly resided at Reidenbach’s Store where he was engaged in farming. Deceased was a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, and is survived by these children: Abram, Morgantown; John, Ephrata; Frances, wife of Reuben Horst, Hahnstown; Martin, Reading; Annie, wife of John Rutt, Denver; Elizabeth, wife of John Kilhefner, Akron; Jacob, Perryton, Texas; Lydia, wife of Frank Kilhefner, New Holland; Amanda, wife of Lemon Gockley, Ephrata; Eli, near Ephrata. Two brothers: Alfred, Bareville; and Jacob of Farmersville. Eighty-one grandchildren and sixty-five great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at his late home, Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock with further services at 11 o’clock in the Groffdale Mennonite Church where all the services will be held and interment made. Conveyances will be made at the Terre Hill car leaving Lancaster at 9:30 o’clock and the New Holland car leaving Lancaster at 10:30 o’clock at the Groffdale Road.
