DEATH OF MRS. S.M. WEBB
Mrs. S.M. Webb, and old resident of Millard County, and well known throughout the state, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Esta Bellander at Baker, Nevada, on December 15.. Mrs. Webb resided at Salt Lake, but paid her daughter a visit last July. She became ill and being rather frail, gradually sunk until death came.
Her huband and Mr. and Mrs. Bellander brought the body by team to Filmore, a long, cold drive. The funeral too place on Thursday and was attended y a large number of the old friends of the deceased, as she had lived with her family in Fillmore for many years. Besides her daughter, Esta and her husband, there was also a attendance at the funeral another daughter, Mrs. Alice Robertson of Baker, and her son, Clyde Webb and wife, of Salt Lake.
Mrs. Webb was the daughter of John L. Smith and Augusta Cleveland Smith. She was born in Salt Lake in April, 1851, and was married to Marcellus H. Webb at Salt Lake in September, 1867. She was the mother of seven children, six of whom survive her. She also left sixteen grandchildren. Besides the children already mentioned there was Mrs. Clara Keyser, of Salt Lake; Chester Webb, of Richmond; Lyman Webb of California. Her father was a cousin of the Prophet, Joseph Smith and one of the pioneers.
Mrs. Webb was a faithful wife, a true mother and a helpful neighbor. She was always ready with word and tried to help those in trouble and the memory of her sweet and beneficent life will be an inspiration to all who knew her.
