He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn Lee and Audrey Lung; and a grandson, Brant Bailey. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Mary Price "Tid" Bailey of the home; seven children, Billy (Ginger) McLeod of Columbia, Mary Lynn (Jeff) Peter, Gayle (Ron) Morris, Randall (Hilda) Bailey, Robin (Tammy) Bailey, and Michael (Rebecca) Bailey all of Florence and Melanie (Derwin) Hudson of Coward; two sisters, Emily Williams and Sylvia (Heyward) Miller both of Florence; seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Fred Bailey was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He blessed all he encountered with his humor, love, patience, and kindness. He used his hands to build beautiful furniture and used his heart to build a family full of love and joy. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Friendship United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire- Dowling Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Friendship United Methodist Church, 5422 E. Old Marion Hwy, Florence, SC 29506 or to the Omar Shriner's Children's Fund, 176 Patriots Point, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Doctor's and Nurse's at Carolinas Hospital System during his short illness. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
