Mr. William Adams

Mr. William A. Adams, Sr., age 75, Lyons, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at his residence.

The Waterman, Illinois, native had resided in Lyons since 1960. He was retired from Georgia Power as a security officer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Merchant Marines, and the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Reba Williamson Adams, in 1998.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Hammock, Lyons; two sons, William A. Adams, Jr., Savannah, and Michael Adams, Vidalia; one sister, MiJean Morrell, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother, Fred K. Adams, Ft. White, Fla.; five grandchildren, Crystal Allen and William Adams III, both of Savannah, Marissa Hammock, Lyons, Michael Adams, Lizella, and Michelle Crawford, Vidalia,; eight great-grandchildren, Dustin Allen, Summer Adams, Arielle Adams, Christian Adams, Alexander Adams, Breanna Adams, Autumn Crawford and Luke Crawford; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 1, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with the Reverend Kelmer Durden and the Reverend Michael Branson officiating. Interment with military honors followed in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Michael G. Adams, William A. Adams III, Tim Allen, John Hammock, Jaimey Braddy and Jon Braddy.
