Michael Albert, formerly of Canton, passed away Feruary 26 at his home in Lacey, WA .

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Miriam Albert; two brothers, Norman and Elias; three sisters, Jennie Albert, Helen Hadad, Naomi Horner and Millie Taher.

A veteran of World War II, Michael was stationed at Scofield Barracks in 1941 when Pearl Harbor was attacked.

He served in Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was in the Landing at Utah Beach during World War II. He retired from the military after serving 30 years, and then worked as a volunteer at the Military Hospital at Madigan Army Base and the Veterans Hospital in Olympia, WA .

He received many commendations during his career in the Army.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; three sons, Robert (Susie) of Carlsbad, CA, Steve (Rebecca) of Banks, OR, Greg (Susan) of Houston, TX; daughter, Michaleen (Gary) Richards of Olympia, WA ; several grandchildren; four sisters, Peggy Tomey of Canton, Esther Bristow of Petersburg, VA, Martha Johns of Canton and Lydia Elliott of Canton; two brothers, Larry of Madison, WI and John of Dearfield Beach, FL.
