On March 30, 1982, Doug welcomed his first child, Brian David Manuel. On January 7, 1989, he and wife Bridget Harris Manuel welcomed twin daughters Brenda Lee and Brandy Dawn.
Earlier in his life Doug worked in departmental management for a large grocer, but he later built a successful career with for Cain's Coffee. He was also very mechanically-inclined and was constantly building, rebuilding, or repairing something in his workshop. His brothers knew who to call when they had car issues. Doug liked to fish and hunt with his brothers, and he enjoyed camping, sports, and horse races.
Doug passed away at his home in Collinsville, OK, on January 17, 1997, at the age of 34, under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family. At the time of his death, he was survived by his parents, David and Wanda Manuel of Okla. City; his wife Bridget, son Brian, daughters Brenda and Brandy, of the home; his brothers Mike, Ken, Jeff, Charlie, and Steve and their wives; numerous nieces and nephews; and many members of his extended family and a host of close friends.
They say time heals all wounds, but those who have suffered a loss such as this know it's never the same without their loved one. They also say that the Lord works in mysterious ways, and that big things come in small packages. Doug Manuel's family received one of those mysterious gifts from Heaven, a great big blessing in a little bitty package, when Doug's first grandson Kaden was born on his grandpa's birthday, Dec. 18, 2007.
