She was the wife of the late Frank L. Hessinger, Jr. who passed in 1997.
Born in Kresgeville, she was the daughter of the late Edwin J. and Eva V. (Smith) Eckhart.
Lauretta was an elementary school teacher for the Palmerton Area School District, for 28 years, retiring in 1973.
She began her teaching career at the one-room Kibler School, Big Creek, later at one room Greenzweig School, Trachsville, until Towamensing Elementary was constructed.
Lauretta was a 1937 graduate of Cedar Crest College, Allentown, and received her teaching certification from East Stroudsburg State Teachers College.
She was a member, Sunday School Teacher, and Pianist of the Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville.
Lauretta enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors: Sons, Frank and wife Dotty of Easton, MD, Edwin R. of Lower Towamensing Twp, James J. and wife Judy Kunkletown; nine grandchildren, Greg, Glen, Rodney, Chrissa, Susan, Debra, Kathy, Shawn, and Micah; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
