Former Anchorage resident PETER C. RUDE, 82, died Aug. 6, 2001, in Eau Claire, Wis., following complications from Parkinson's disease, a fall, and emphysema. A funeral and burial took place in Colfax, Wis.
He was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Colfax, Wis., to Peter and Edna (Saalsaa) Rude. He moved to Anchorage in 1955 and worked for Alaska Freight Lines. Later, he became general manager for the Alaska division of Sealand, Inc. He and his family were among the charter members of Lutheran Church of Hope in Anchorage. Following retirement about 1981, he and his wife, Ona, a clerk of the Alaska District Court, moved to Mesa, Ariz. She died in March 1985. He married Alice Hilson Yellowega on Jan. 12, 1986, in Colfax.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, of Colfax and Mesa; sons, Gary (Phyllis) of Anchorage, Jim (Jane) of Colfax and Ernest (Juana) of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Olin (Edna) of Anchorage and Mesa, and David (Carol) of Green Valley, Ariz.; and six sisters, Alice Erickson of GrandHaven, Mich., Mary Larson-Bowen (Joe Bowen) of Anchorage and Fort Lauderdale, Carol Lottes, Poynette, Wis., Ruth Christenson, Oroville, Calif., Barbara (Orrin) Gilbert of Sun City, Ariz.; and Kay Rude of South Melbourne, Fla.; nine grandchildren, including Richard and Meredith Rude of Anchorage, and two great-grandsons. A visitation was held at the Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax, WI on August 10. Memorials may be sent to North Running Valley Lutheran Church, Colfax, Wis.; or to National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., Bob Hope Parkinson Research Center, 1501 N.W.
