Obituary appeared in the Gallipolis Daily Tribune, Gallipolis, Ohio, on December 06, 1983, on page 20 as follows:

John Tyler Waugh, 86, Rt. 2, Crown City, died Tuesday at 11:54 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Hospital. He had been in failing health for several months.
Born Jan. 6, 1897, in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Wayne and Elizabeth Swindler Waugh.
Mr. Waugh was a farmer and World War I (U.S. Army) veteran. He was also the oldest member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Emma E. (McGuire) Waugh, whom he married July 7, 1919, Gallipolis; three daughters, Mrs. Otis (Kathryn) Chapman, Cheshire, Mrs. Russell (Eloise) Ross, Crown City and Geraldine Warren, Gallipolis; one son, John Dale Waugh, Crown City; 16 grandchildren and 27 Great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were six brothers and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Revs, Clifford Gore and Richard Steele officiating. The burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call Willis Funeral Home, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to services on Friday.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4464 will conduct military graveside services.
